FAQ

What is Storm in Heaven, and what are scanlations? [top]
Storm in Heaven (SiH) is a non-profit group of fans that scanlated manga from 2002-2011. Over the course of that time, the group translated and released dozens of volumes of manga that were not licensed for English distribution, hoping to create an awareness and following for the titles. This website maintains a download archive of all SiH releases that have not been subsequently licensed. There is also an Italian division of Storm in Heaven, which is completely separate from the English division.

Can I host, upload, or redistribute your releases?
As long as the contents of the files are unchanged (i.e., credits page not removed), we are now allowing releases to be hosted elsewhere. As always, we ask that any title that has been licensed not be uploaded or distributed anywhere.

Can I translate one of your projects for distribution in another language?
We previously compiled a list of groups we gave permission to. That list is here. As of the group closing, I'm no longer keeping track of retranslation requests. Any group can feel free to use our scans as long as proper credit is given (leaving our credit page in your release will suffice). Exception: If it was a joint project, you must defer to the restrictions placed by the joint group.

What's shoujo, shounen, and shounen-ai, and what other genres do you break projects into? [top]
Shoujo, shounen, and shounen-ai are the three main genres of manga we scanlate. Shoujo is geared for girls, while shounen titles are geared toward men. Shounen-ai (also called boy's love or BL) titles are stories with romances between two men. Projects in each main genre are given sub-genres. Below is a complete listing of the sub-genres we use and our definitions. Click on any of them for a full listing of our projects of that type.

Pretty layout! Where's the picture from?
The current layout was tossed together by Kalendel, with lots of help from staffers and random passers-by! The image is from the manga [zion] by Kayase Shiki.

Can we use pictures from your projects for layouts, wallpaper, or something else?
Sure, so long as you make no money off of it, and you credit www.storminheaven.org. And the mangaka, of course!
